Mr. Bissue, former secretary of the Interministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) according to the CID, did not bypbad the procedures established by the IMCIM to favor the ORR Resource Enterprise, the company at the center of the incident.
This, the CID declared to be able to establish after thorough investigations.
But in a radio interview with Citi FM On Monday morning, Amidu said his office had not yet settled the charges of corruption brought against him by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his tiger Eye P.I.
Mr. Bissue was captured in a documentary produced by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye P.I on the threat of illegal mining. In the documentary, Mr. Bissue allegedly took money to help an unauthorized company circumvent the ongoing processes that were to be allowed to authorize its mining activities.
The documentary also captured other people responsible for taking on the responsibility of helping the state fight galamsey (illegal mining) that would bypbad the very duty they were given. Reacting to the news, Amidu said the police were not competent to give corruption charges to Mr. Bissue and his other colleague, one of Andy Owusu.
He explained that Anas and his team petitioned his office in February of this year following the release of the documentary in which his office responded to the petition the same month and badured Anas and his team that his office would take things in hand.
Mr. Amidu added that his office had opened an investigation, but before he could invite Bissue, "I read a newspaper in which Charles Bissue had stated that the CID was investigating his case and that the complainant had to go to place and bring his testimony. "
According to him, shortly after reading the newspaper, he had written to the Director General of the CID "to tell him that the acts of corruption had been attributed to the Office of the Special Prosecutor" and that his office [Special Prosecutor] a complaint was sent to the CID which allegedly carried out an investigation.
Mr Amidu said that since the CID had no competence in this area and he did not want the duplicity of his work either, he asked the head of the CID to put an end to the investigation.
The head of the CID reportedly told him that the Minister of the Interior and the Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, would also have given instructions. to investigate the case.
The SP said: "I wrote with a very firm objection, and then I started the investigation.
According to him, "I wrote to the chief of staff to release Bissue," explaining that Mr. Bissue had been released and that his office had taken his statement.
Mr. Amidu stated that all the parties accused of corruption had been invited and that their statement had been withdrawn, adding that the applicant, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, had also been invited and that a statement had been made.
He added that although Anas sent videos to the bureau about this problem, he [Amidu] did not personally see the video because "I'm not the investigator".
He added that when the investigators were done with their investigations, the file would be sent to his office for further action, stating that "the case is with us".
Mr. Amidu stated that he wrote to the CID and copied the Minister of the Interior and Jubilee House [Presidency] on the fact that the CID did not have the competence to simultaneously investigate the matter with the Special Prosecutor's Office.
He said that it would not allow anyone to interfere in his mandate by choosing to send the appropriate cases to the police and not allowing his office to take charge.
According to him, Mr Bissue and Andy Owusu were both on bail and the decision of the Home Secretary to charge the police to investigate the case was a political decision.
