Opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Secretary General Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has hit back at critics who questioned why his children were not taking part in street protests against the 2020 presidential election result.

One wondered why the NDC bigwigs did not involve their children in street protests, but had instigated gullible youths to take to the streets in protest.

But in an interview on Joy News watched by Kasapafmonline.com Johnson Asiedu Nketia, aka General Mosquito, on Sunday said he was leading by example and his family members were active in the fight.

He revealed that his own son was participating in a street protest in Techiman on Monday, December 21, 2020, for what she describes as election fraud perpetrated by the electoral commission.

“My family members are in the trenches, they are part of the process. One of my sons is already in Techiman for the demonstration tomorrow (Monday). So those who don’t know my sons how do they say my sons are not one of them. This fight is not about John Mahama becoming president or the NDC leading this country, it is about protecting the sovereignty of this country. So if somebody thinks it’s a manifestation of John Mahama then I don’t care, let me stay then you don’t understand what’s going on.

There were widespread protests from NDC supporters in different parts of the country, burning tires and setting up roadblocks and calling for an audit of the election which declared President Akufo-Addo the winner.

Last week’s protest at the Election Commission headquarters in Accra saw some 26 supporters arrested and granted bail of GHC 10,000 each by a court.

The NDC has already indicated that it will not rush to court to seek redress.

He said his next course of action would be determined after checking the numbers from all polling stations and gathering all relevant evidence relating to the election.
