Challenger N26 has unveiled a new bonus plan called N26 You. This plan replaces N26 Black with the same benefits and some adjustments.
N26 retains its three-tier system with a free basic bank account, a premium account (N26 You) and a super premium account (N26 Metal). With the N26 free package, you can pay anywhere in the world with no foreign transaction fees, but there is a 1.7% surcharge on withdrawals of banknotes in a foreign currency.
N26 You cost the same price as the old N26 Black premium plan, € 9.90 in the euro zone and £ 4.90 in the UK. In addition to a travel and purchase insurance package, you can withdraw money without any transaction fees abroad. If you withdraw the equivalent of 580 € with a free account N26, you will pay about 9,90 € of fees.
You can also create up to 10 spaces to organize your money with savings goals, separate subaccounts, and so on. – Free accounts can only create two spaces.
And of course, you get a better card. N26 reuses its pastel color palette to give you more options. You can now choose from five different colors – Aqua, Rhubarb, Sand, Slate and Ocean. The card has a minimalist design with a tiny N26 logo in the upper left corner, a transparent line at the bottom of the card and a solid color background.
N26 also plans to add benefits to the N26 You package, such as discounts on Hotels.com, WeWork, GetYourGuide, Babbel, Blinkist and Bloom & Wild. In the past, these benefits were limited to N26 Metal customers. It will be interesting to see how the range will work once these benefits are added to N26 You. If you are an existing N26 Black customer, you automatically become a N26 You customer.
Replacing the N26 Black with a high-end package with several types of cards may seem like a detail, but it potentially opens up a lot of possibilities. You will soon be able to order an additional card.
Finally, you could imagine having a credit card badociated with your main account and a yellow card badociated with a Shared Space subaccount, for example. At least that's what I hope the company will do.
