The midfielder was eliminated in Liverpool's 3-0 defeat against Barcelona and will be out for about two months.
Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp revealed that Naby Keita had a high grade adductor injury and would be away for two months. As such, it is a huge doubt for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Keita was eliminated midway through the first half of Liverpool's 3-0 defeat by Barcelona in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final clash at Camp Nou.
The midfielder was hit in the wake by Ivan Rakitic. However, he continued to play before being finally withdrawn.

"It was really unlucky." Bad news. "High quality adductor injury." The tendon is torn and will keep him out of the group for at least two months, "Klopp told the media in Europe.
"Bad news for us and for Guinea with the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations. Not nice."
The news is a blow for Guinea to Afcon. Injuries and inconsistencies have hampered the growth of the Anfield midfielder. He arrived this summer under the signing of a £ 59 million ($ 62 million) contract.
Guinea is part of Group B of Afcon 2019 alongside Madagascar, Nigeria and Burundi.
They will probably hang on to the slim hope that their midfielder could return to play later in the competition.

Asked about how Keita takes into account the news of his recent injury, Klopp added: "Of course, it is not at the best time, but it's good, I think.
"There are two things: a very interesting part of the season that he is not part of, but Guinea, I do not think [qualifier] for the Africa Cup of Nations. It was a big target for him too, so he's not at the right time.
"It's a time when you have to help the players, we try everything we can."
