Building KANE-EM Industries Limited
The National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) has asked KANE-EM Industries Limited, a plastic manufacturing company located in the North Industrial Area in Accra, to lift the partial blockade created in a secondary water collector behind the Ashfoam plant to facilitate the free flow of water, especially when it is raining.
According to the NADMO metropolitan director in Accra, Mr. Henry Nii Lantei Plunge, the blockade would worsen the floods in the area.
Mr. Plunge gave this directive yesterday during the inspection of the secondary stormwater collector, which contributes significantly to persistent flooding in the northern industrial zone enclave, particularly in the Dadeban and Otublohum streets.
The partially blocked drain is close to the KANE-EM factory.
It serves as an outlet for waters flowing upstream upstream and through culverts under the railway and then into the Odaw River.

Mr. Plunge stated that NADMO, in collaboration with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), was taking the necessary measures to combat persistent floods in the region.
Referring to a report from the Department of Hydrological Services on Floods, he added that, apart from the negative effects of floods on companies operating in the region, the movement of vehicles was also strongly disturbed by the rain.
"Two weeks ago we had to pick up a corpse after the rains. our efforts are aimed at protecting lives and properties and we will ensure that the right thing is done, "he added.
He also asked neighborhood businesses, including Latex Foam, Qualiplast, ECG-Avenor and Duraplast, to work with NADMO to solve the flood problem in the area.

Ashfoam's director of marketing and communications, Joe Ampem-Darko Antwi, who spoke of the challenges facing the company, said they were sometimes forced to close for two days or more when it was raining.
He stated that Ashfoam was prepared to badume the costs of rebuilding the drain only if KANE-EM allowed it to expand to its original size.
At the same time, KANE-EM's Managing Director, Mr. Prasanth Nair, stated that he had not received any formal notice ordering the company to lift the blockade that she had built in the airlock, but NADMO refuted his position.
Mr Nair said KANE-EM was only looking for a solution to recurring floods in the area whenever it was raining.
Despite the fact that he denied having received formal notification to lift the blockade, he pledged to cooperate with NADMO to find ways to prevent flooding in the area.
