President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday designated Nalerigu as the capital of Ghana's newly created northeastern region.
At the ceremony, the President announced at the ceremony the presentation of constitutional instrument CI 116, which gave effect to the creation of the eleventh region of Ghana, to the leaders and inhabitants of the new region at the Jubilee House gold in Accra.
Nalerigu, the largest city of the municipality of East Mamprusi, is also the traditional capital of the Mamprusi people and the seat of the supreme leader, the Nayiri.
The Nayiri (overlord) of Mamprugu country, Naa Bohigu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga, received the IC of President Akufo-Addo.
