Privy Counsel Maurice Ampaw, a private-sector lawyer, introduced the ruling party government, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), about the mistreatment they inflicted on Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Menzgold, struggling with the conflict.

The lawyer, who is also a Menzgold customer, told Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that NAM 1 had sponsored the NPP's campaign, particularly in Kasoa, and bought motorcycles for the party.

Commenting on the acquittal and release of NAM 1 in Dubai on the alleged saga of gold fraud, the lawyer said, "I am disappointed with the nuclear power plant. I am disappointed with the way they treated NAM 1. NAM 1 sponsored their campaign and bought motorcycles for the party. He supported the government and I was shocked by the way he was treated when the Menzgold saga began. "

Lawyer Ampaw said all the saboteurs who were engaging with the government to falsely persecute the CEO had all been humiliated as a result of his victory at court.

He then took his weapon against the injured customers who, he noted, were insensitive to Menzgold's fate.

He revealed on the issue that Menzgold had planned to pay customers between 15% and 20% of their deposits but clients rejected the offer and claimed all deposits pending.

According to him, he was attacked and badaulted for calling for calm when the Menzgold saga began.

"When the problem started, I embarked on a national tour to appeal to customers so that they would exercise restraint, but I was accused of corruption. Because of that, I stopped what I was doing. NAM 1 was falsely accused, insulted and called fraudster, but a Dubai court acquitted and fired him. No court in Ghana has tried or found him guilty of swindle and yet Ghanaians have attacked this innocent man. "

He was also concerned about the government's failure to prosecute those responsible for the collapse of some local banks in Ghana, but considered it prudent to denigrate NAM 1.

NAM 1 was arrested in Dubai in December 2018 following a report to security authorities by a Dubai-based company that it may be linked to a botched gold deal with a Ghanaian company whose One of his officials was known.

It would have landed in Dubai in the hope of recovering some $ 39 million owed to Menzgold by Dubai-based Horizon Royal Diamonds DMCC for supplying gold.
