Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO of Menzgold
Ghana's consul general in Dubai, Gifty Bukari, revealed that Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM 1, CEO of gold distribution company Menzgold, had announced that she was looking for money for pay injured customers in Ghana before his new arrest by Dubai.
NAM 1 is being charged with a misdemeanor charge following a bad $ 23 million contract. On March 4, 2019, he was released on bail, but because of the warning on his red alert, he was arrested again on instructions from Interpol.
A Dubai-based businessman denounced Mr Mensah for fraud in May 2018. Unaware that he was on the list of people wanted by the Dubai police, he went to the UAE in the hope of receiving a huge sum of money thanks to his previous transactions with the Emirati, only to be arrested when he presented his pbadport to submit to immigration formalities.
The general director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghanaian police, at a press briefing held last week, revealed that Nana Appiah Mensah could no longer be extradited to Ghana even though it was was on bail in Dubai.
According to the IDC official, NAM 1 can only be brought to Ghana after the end of his trial in the United Arab Emirates.
There have been several protests from injured clients claiming the release of a blocked investment with Menzgold.
In an interview with Akwasi Nsiah at Kasapa News, Ghana's general consul in Dubai, Gifty Bukari said the briefing of the officer in charge of consular affairs, who closely followed the case NAM 1 suggests that he hopes to settle his debt.
"When NAM 1 got the deposit, my briefing was that he had planned to look for money to come to Ghana and pay the customers, but Interpol was also on his neck. Meanwhile, NAM 1 won its case in Dubai.
The court that ruled on Tuesday morning also ordered the company, with which he had problems, to pay him all unpaid debts, according to reported information.
NAM 1 has been in the Dubai cell since November 2018 following a bad deal for gold.
