The prosecution said in October 2018 that the police had received requests from about 16,000 complainants that Menzgold and Brew Marketing Company had submitted to the public, including the plaintiffs, a claim and an invitation to deposit money for a fixed term. period with interest on the pretext of acquiring gold from the marketing company Brew.
He said the gold purchased from Brew Marketing was to be exchanged by Menzgold for a monthly interest of 10%.

The prosecution stated that the police then opened an investigation into the activities of the defendants.
ASP Asare stated that Nana Appiah, Rita and Benedicta had escaped and that their offices and residence had been found locked. An arrest warrant has therefore been issued against them.
He said that on July 11, Nana Appiah arrived at Kotoka International Airport and was arrested by the police. She was then taken into custody to facilitate investigations.
According to the prosecution, investigations to date have revealed that Menzgold and Brew Marketing were incorporated as limited liability companies under the Companies Act 1963 (Act 179) in December 2013 and in December 2016.
He added that the main activities of Nana Appiah include the extraction of gold and diamonds, as well as dealers in gold and other precious minerals. The prosecutor led by Sylvester Asare, Deputy Superintendent of Police, however, clarified that, in accordance with the terms of the license, Nana Appiah was to appoint a gold buying agent to buy gold in his name to artisbad miners.
He then announced the appointment by the accused of a gold purchasing agent, which led to the creation of Brew Marketing in December 2016.
ASP Asare added that, according to investigations, Brew Marketing, although incorporated for the purpose of buying and selling gold, among others, was not authorized by the Minerals Commission to negotiate from the market. ;gold.
He added that Menzgold, through Brew Marketing, had encouraged the public to deposit money with the company.
He said that Brew Marketing, through its executives, had invited the plaintiffs to deposit term money with interest, under the pretext of buying gold.
The prosecution stated that although the invitation was to buy gold, Brew Marketing was not allowed to buy gold and simply acted as agent for a Menzgold agent during purported gold sales.
He added that investigations are still ongoing.
