Deputy Attorney General Joseph Dindiok Kpemka has put together a strong defense for the beleaguered CEO of the late Menzgold defendant Nana Appiah Mensah, aka NAM 1.
According to him, the claims that NAM 1 would have duped a businessman in Dubai were all false, as proved by his acquittal.
Mr. Kpemka stated that he had met Nana Appiah Mensah for the first time when he had visited her at a meeting "one by one" after obtaining permission security officials in Dubai.
This was possible because Kpemka was part of a government delegation sent to the UAE to try to extricate himself to Ghana, with the aim of forcing him to settle his frustrated customers.
Speaking during an interview with Zylofon FM, based in Accra, which incidentally belongs to NAM 1, Mr. Kpemka revealed that he had met NAM 1 in the UAE and that They had had a frank conversation about everything that had happened during his arrest in Dubai, after claiming that he [NAM 1] fooled a businessman to the tune of $ 61 million.
Mr. Kpemka explained that the media story about NAM 1 fooling a businessman was false. He explained that NAM 1 had been arrested because he had acted as an intermediary in a gold transaction involving the victim and that he had not participated in the allegedly fraudulent affair.
Mr Kpemka also refuted allegations by part of the population that his meeting with NAM1 would have taken place, as he claimed.

During his interview, he stated that he did not "deserve to perform his duties as Deputy Attorney General" he did not meet NAM 1, as he claimed.
He also added that the Ministry of Justice is justified after "justice has been rendered" in favor of NAM 1.
The Deputy Minister of Justice said that the release of NAM 1 from the Dubai Metropolitan Police would pave the way for Menzgold's CEO to settle his aggrieved customers.
"It is inappropriate for anyone in the written commentary to pbad judgment on the guilt of a person before the court makes a decision …. I think that as a Justice Department, seeking only justice, we feel that justice has been done and that we can only say that the young man will pick up the coins, get the money and settle customers and that he can move on, "he said.
What is the next step for Menzgold customers?
Kpemka, responding to a question about the government's next decision to bring NAM 1 back into the country, said his government would take a decision in the coming days to ensure NAM 1's return to the country.
Mr Kpemka says there is a 30-day deadline for a possible appeal against NAM 1 in Dubai and that he can only return when the deadline is up. However, it did not give the impression that the government had the intention to take strict measures against him upon his return.
"There will be a decision, it has not been taken yet … We are waiting for the 30 days deadline and we will have to find a way to make arrangements with the consulate and our mission to Emirates to ensure its safety and its return at home to settle his customers. "
