Special Prosecutor Amidu Sle32 Martin Alamisi Burnes Kaiser Amidu

The executive director of the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), Mr Emmanuel Akwetey, has instructed the special prosecutor to name the officials he has accused of having frustrated the fight against corruption.

"We need to know who is subverting the civil service sanctions system with them," he told Newsfile on JoyNews on Saturday.

The special prosecutor who has been under pressure justifies the creation of his office in 2018, said that some officials of public institutions do not disclose the information or deliberately retain the necessary information to fight against corruption.

It is "despite the fact that the President repeatedly reprimanded him for such misconduct," he said in a statement entitled "Challenges of the Office of the Special Prosecutor in the fight against corruption in Ghana" .

Dr. Aketey stated that Martin Amidu's claims were serious enough for the Special Prosecutor to initiate an online action by going to court to compel these officials to disclose the necessary information.

The leader of the civil society wants the anti-corruption groups to support the special prosecutor, but urged Amidu to also involve these companies.

The executive director of IDEG also thinks that Amidu has been put into a dysfunctional public system that harms the efficiency of his office.

"The public service, its systems, its professionalism, its efficiency … .and the system of sanctions has collapsed. Nobody is in charge and this destroys our country. "
