Nantes fans pay tribute to Emiliano Sala with the flag of their former striker in the club's first match after the disappearance of his plane
The Nantes players and supporters paid an emotional tribute to Emiliano Sala before their first match since the striker disappeared on his trip to the new Cardiff club last week.
A crowd almost at its height was found at the Stade de la Beaujoire for the Ligue 1 match against Saint-Etienne while the Argentine striker remembered.
The local team warmed up with t-shirts wearing Sala's face and the message "We love you Emi" – "We love Emi" – written on the back.
Supporters raised several banners in tribute to this 28-year-old man, whose plane disappeared near Guernsey as he was leaving France to pursue his Premier League career with Cardiff.
While fans were watching Sala images on large screens, they then displayed a huge map screen depicting an Argentine flag behind one of the goals.

There was also a picture of the center of the former Nantes player and when the teams emerged for the start of the match, each home player bore the name of Sala on his jersey rather than his own.
Once the game started, the match was interrupted after nine minutes and 60 minutes. The supporters cheered to support a player who served their club for three and a half years.
And when Abdul Majeed Waris equalized 20 minutes from the end to give a 1-1 draw in Nantes, several of their players came together to wear a jersey bearing the name of Sala, dedicated to their former colleague.

The tributes took place 24 hours after Cardiff paid tribute to the striker – who had signed his record when he joined the club Jan. 19 – before his match at Arsenal.
While the search for the plane continues around the Channel Islands, two seat cushions were discovered Monday on a beach near Surtainville, on the French coast.
British investigators said on Wednesday that they were "likely" to come from the plane carrying Sala and pilot David Ibbotson.

The Air Accident Investigation Bureau should now conduct a four-mile underwater search to find the missing plane this weekend.
This operation is distinct from the private research in progress, although the two groups involved work together.
