Protest against Nanton Chief 2 Residents blocked roads and used offensive weapons to protest Baba Bawa's appointment

The youth of Nanton, in the north of the country, on Monday engaged in a demonstration exercise to protest the newly bloody leader of the region, Muhammadu Baba Bawa.

Some communities in the traditional zone also took part in the event.

The issue was submitted to the Committee of Eminent Chiefs over the weekend after the youths set up roadblocks and walked the streets to demand a reversal of the silt.

Spokesman for the protest group Alhaji Mugisu Sibiwey told Citi News that they did not support the appointment of Baba Bawa as Nanton's chief.

"The surrounding villages around Nanton are all here, stating that they do not want Baba Bawa to be the leader of Nanton. That's our problem. We do not want him, so the overlord of Dagbon should take a second look at Baba Bawa as Nanton's leader and change it for us so that peace reigns, "said Sibiwey.

A few days ago, residents protested against the decision of the lord of Dagbon, Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, to appoint an Andani as chief.

Residents blocked roads and used offensive weapons to protest the appointment of Baba Bawa.

They swore to accept no Nanton Naa apart from Zoosali Naa Haruna Tia Sulemana.

They also prevented Baba Bawa from visiting the city.
