There is a harmful Chinese tea known as ACHOURA that was allegedly smuggled into Ghana by some traders, the National Security Ministry has warned.
National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah sounded the red alert in a letter to Health Minister Kwaku Agyeman-Manu.
The letter says the tea has found its way into the Ghanaian market.
The letter stated that said tea, ACHOURA, was banned by the Burkina Faso Chamber of Commerce on February 19, 2021 because it contains traces of pesticides.
The letter revealed that the tea, coming from the Sahelian regions, is believed to have found its way to the northern regions of Ghana and some Zongo communities.
ACHOURA tea is made from China and online checks reveal it to be a very popular tea brand common in Asia and parts of North, West and South Africa. Center.
