The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on the public to participate in the COVID-19 vaccination exercise to save their lives and the lives of others.
Mr Peter Gyasi, deputy regional director of NCCE Bono, said the vaccine was an additional preventive measure to support wearing of nasal masks, frequent hand washing with soap under running water, use of disinfectants for alcohol-based hands, and social distancing protocols, to avoid the pandemic.
He was speaking at the post-election review and deliberation meeting of the Bono Regional Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) in Sunyani.
The meeting was hosted by the Bono Regional Directorate of the NCCE to assess the electoral processes throughout the 2020 general election and chart the way forward to protect peace and democracy in the region.
The Peace Council, security services and regional representatives of all political parties participated.
Mr Gyasi said that in the past 30 to 40 years, Ghana has not witnessed deadly diseases such as measles, pertussis, tetanus and diphtheria.
He was therefore optimistic about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccine and urged the public to dismiss rumors about the vaccine.
