The National Democratic Congress (NDC) demanded that the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service investigate Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for threats against some of its members.
The party claims the Assin Central MP on his Madina-based Net2 TV threatened to burn the properties of some NDC members.
Loud lawmakers chose former President John Mahama; NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketiah; a member of the NDC legal team, Baba Jamal; NDC national organizer Joshua Akamba and NDC campaign operations director Lt. Col. Larry Gbevlo Lartey.
The NDC said it viewed these statements and Mr. Ohene Agyapong’s behavior “as a threat to the lives and property of those named”.
He said the action of the legislature is a “potential threat to the peace of this country and, therefore, deems it necessary for your office to take up the matter and conduct the necessary investigations into it.”
He added, “We don’t need to remind you that Kennedy said Ohene Agyapong has a penchant for making threats against people and inciting the public against people with whom he does not agree.”
According to the NDC, recent events such as the cold-blooded murder of plainclothes investigative journalist Ahmed Suale who, prior to his murder, was the target of similar threats from the same Kennedy Agyepong, “should remind the police the need to restrict any similar event involving people that Kennedy Ohene Agyapong threatened on live television and incited the public against.
The party said it has taken “a very serious view of the conduct of the central deputy for Assin in this matter and we therefore call for inquiries to be immediately opened into said behavior to allay the apprehensions of those appointees and to maintain peace and stability in our country. dear nation.
He concluded: “We are convinced that you will treat this request with the urgency it requires.”
