The seven candidates holding the flag of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) were duly controlled by the party before the primaries on Saturday, February 23, 2019.
The seven people who were successfully examined yesterday by the party's selection committee at its Accra headquarters were former President John Dramani Mahama, Professor Joshua Alabi, Mr. Alban Bagbin and Mr. Sylvester Mensah.

The other persons are Mr. Nurideen Iddrisu, Mr. Augustus Goosie Tanoh and Mr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah.
All aspirants were asked about their academic, social and economic backgrounds, their skills, their ability to lead and win the party for victory, their policies, and other qualities.

The verification process began around 10:00 am and ended around 5:45 pm. All the candidates arrived at separate time intervals.
Although the exercise was held behind closed doors, dozens of enthusiastic supporters invaded the party headquarters to encourage their various candidates.
The platform was animated by songs, drums and a general brbad band as they received and escorted the various candidates upon their arrival.

NDC National President Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the party strategically planned an hour-long arrival interval so that all candidates could avoid a "fan confrontation".
Committee Report
The seven-member committee, chaired by Nii Okaija Adamafio, former Interior Minister under the Rawlings regime, is expected to submit today its report to the party hierarchy, in which the results of the monitoring process will be discussed.
Following the committee's report today, the party will also complete the voting process today to determine the order in which the names of the qualified candidates will appear on the ballot.
Meanwhile, a committee member, Mr. James K. Avedzi, told reporters that "we grilled everyone and everyone was a source of inspiration".
The reactions
After his review, Mr. Bagbin, the first to be examined, told reporters that he was confident of being able to qualify for the next stage of the process because "I could tell from their body language and their nod that they had given me their approval ".
After spending about 50 minutes with the committee, Professor Alabi, who was the second to be controlled, said he was delighted with his performance during the audit and said with confidence that "I was successful" .
Mr. Mahama, who was the third to be examined, was greeted with enthusiasm by former Chief of Staff, Mr. Julius Debrah, former Minister of Communications, Mr. Edward Omane Boamah, Ms. Joyce Bawa Mogtari, spokesman for Mr. Mahama other dignitaries.
Mensah, Tanoh, and Spio-Garbrah followed suit accordingly.
In a post-exercise interview, Mr. Spio-Garbrah said: "I had a very friendly meeting with committee members because they know me and know the many contributions that I'm making. I brought to the party. "
