NDC files petition to challenge Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency seat in court

The Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Western region has filed a petition with the Sekondi High Court to challenge the results of the 2020 parliamentary elections.

A press release signed by Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency Secretary George Gadd Enimal, copied from Connect FM’s current affairs and political show, “ASEM Yi Dzi Ka” and announcing the latest decision, says the petition has was filed in accordance with the party’s audit of the 2020 parliamentary results, and after extensive consultations with the party’s national and regional executive committees.

“… At around 9 am today, Constituency Secretary George Gadd Enimil, along with lawyers appointed by the party’s national executives filed the petition with the Sekondi High Court.”

The petition details the serious violations of electoral laws and the numerous irregularities in the results thus declared by the returning officer.

The petition seeks a declaration from the High Court that the purported declaration of the results of the 2020 parliamentary election on December 8, 2020 is null and void.

“An order to the 2nd respondent to comply with the regulations on public elections, 2020, (CI 127) by pasting all the results of all the 252 polling stations of the constituency of Tarkwa Nsuaem in the presence of accredited agents of the NDC and the candidates members of the NPP and to reflect the true will of the voters ”.

The petition further requests an order addressed to the 2nd respondent to quash the votes cast at the polling stations without verification, as required by law and order ordered the 2nd respondent to resume parliamentary elections at the Boboobo Community Center 1A and 1B and in the four other polling stations. where the votes cast exceeded the total number of voters who voted in those polling stations ”.

The party leadership, the statement said, is urging supporters of the team, the party base to stand firm behind them as it begins to demand justice for the constituency citizens.

“The real will of the people of the constituency will be manifested in due course,” the statement said.
