NDC have the right not to trust this EC

When Dr. Afari Gyan retired as President of the EC, Mahama was legally mandated to consult the State Council and appoint a new President. We all know that the State Council does not do much in these situations, politicians always have a choice. That said, Mahama made her appointment at the scheduled time.

It was difficult to read the meaning, it was not possible to suggest that Afari Gyan had been expelled, he retired.

Despite this, the NPP of the time did everything to discredit Ms. Osei. She was even accused of having slept with the president to fill this position. Despite the acrimonious relationship between the EC and the NPP, they decided to organize our best and most transparent elections to date.

While in opposition, many communicators from nuclear power plants said the EC would be eliminated if power was secured.

Fast forward, power is won and a group asks the president, a group of faceless causes, who makes all sorts of allegations, some legitimate though. The President takes it personally, entrusts the Chief Justice to study it, and within a few months the EC Presidents have been removed from office.

I must say that the NDC took it well because it had corresponded to half of the NPP 's aggression during the opposition, the task of the current would have been much more difficult.

I do not regret the NPP so much, even though, on a number of occasions, it has crossed the line of demarcation. It was our policy, as long as it was done by one party, regardless of the quality of its work, the other will not accept it.

However, because of the history of the NPP and Ms. Charlotte Osei, I was expecting our president to show leadership in the appointment of his new president.

Any convinced Ghanaian thinks that Article 70 (2) is out of date, if not wrong, and should give way to a more non-partisan approach to the appointment of the President of the EC. If the appointment of Ms. Osei was reprehensible, because a potential candidate was activating it, it was even worse in Nana's time because, honestly, the way in which the MP was removed from office would make acceptance of the new president more difficult.

Despite the obvious challenge that the new president was going to face, our president decided to apply the hook line and toads to Article 70 without properly consulting the other political parties.

If you do not like Mrs. Osei and you have not hesitated to fire her, then it is legitimate to think that you have chosen one that you really like and can count on.

That's why NDC can not really reach a consensus with this EC.

When Ms. Osei was fired, I felt morally convinced that our president would understand the need not to confuse the current president with the same level of mistrust that this one has endured. This was only possible with the consultation of the other parties.

But do you see, he saw an opportunity to touch the EC and appointed Jane Mensah.

She is perhaps one of the best of the moment. It is even possible that by consensus they have still settled, but if we do it together, we can not complain so much.

Today, if the NDC does not agree to simplify the life of CE Boss, I can not blame them, given the history.

Appointing a new EC boss seemed to be at the top of this government's agenda. However, Nana could have done it smarter instead of treating it as an opportunity to prove that he was the one who held the power.

So, can not we have a president who will boldly accept that it's not good for governance and our development to appoint the IGP, the Chief Justice, the Attorney General, the CHRAJ Boss, the Electoral Commission and the institutions supposed to work without the influence of politicians?

The vast majority favoring the NPP in Parliament, I expected them to correct such wrongs to solve some of the problems set out in the 1992 constitution.

So far, the NDC has been more discriminating in its dealings with the EC boss and has not done a quarter of the allegations against Ms. Osei.

What they are arguing for is knowing how to accept a president of the EC who benefited from a "coup d'état" and I do not blame them, I reproach our president for having abused his powers during of his appointment without taking into account the difference with others.

This woman is not doing enough to create a consensus too, she must accept that it is her duty to combine the fears of the NDC. This attitude, I'm crazy, will not help anyone. Sometimes the one with the power has to compromise.

In fact, the CND deserves credit for treating this EC president more respectfully. They have a lot to do to equal the treatment of the nuclear power plant to Mrs. Charlotte Osei.
