Former President John Mahama
Mohammed Amin Adam, deputy minister of energy, revealed that the previous Mahama government had signed 13 oil contracts without guaranteeing a single oil well for Ghana.
In the $ 890 million contract, companies retained by the previous Mahama government spent $ 95 million without drilling oil.
According to the deputy minister, "these contractors under these 13 PAs were supposed to have drilled 14 wells and spent $ 890 million, but no wells were drilled."
Dr. Adam revealed this to the media last week at the Ministry of Information in Accra, in reaction to the claims of IMANI Africa, a think-tank on policies, that Ghana could lose 30 million dollars he was not negotiating a new deal with Aker Energy.
IMANI had accused Aker Energy of engaging in illegality, but the government dismissed Imani's charges.
According to the deputy minister, the 13 oil contracts signed between 2013 and 2016 for oil exploration have not been implemented.
Dr. Adam insisted that "the contracts that led to discoveries in Ghana were those signed under J. A. Kufuor, 13 contracts were signed under our adversaries – the highest contracts ever signed under any government in Ghana".
"The Tullow Block, Kosmos, which were discovered at the same time; Someone described them as foundation contracts because these are contracts that gave us our first set of discoveries. So you have the Deep Water Tano, Cape 3 Point, and then we have the Hess.
He said, "That's why I question our opponents. None of the contracts they signed led to a discovery, "noting that" 13 companies have received oil blocks and are expected to drill 14 wells between 2013 and 2016. We are in 2019 and no wells have been built. Was drilled by them. People are not concerned about this?
The deputy minister, who exposed the NDC's propaganda in the oil industry, explained that "so, when Aker digs wells and someone is engaged in the semantics that this is exploration and evaluation wells, drilling a well is not easy!
He revealed that the Akufo-Addo administration had planned to continue aggressive exploration in order to increase the country's oil reserves and production.
Energy Minister John Peter Amewu said: "The PA on the DWT / CTP contract operated by Aker Energy was executed on February 8, 2006 between the Government of Ghana, GNPC and Amerada. Hess Corporation.
He said there were seven discoveries in the contract area: Pecan North, Almond, Cob, Beech, Pecan, Paradise and Hickory North.
