The National Democratic Congress is mourning the death of one of its first co-presidents, Alhaji Ussifu Ali.

In a statement, the party said that Alhaji Ussifu Ali had died at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital after a brief illness occurred on Tuesday, April 9 at noon.

Alhaji Ussifu Ali until his death was a member of the party's Elders Council.

The NDC subsequently declared three days of mourning in his memory.

During this period all party flags will fly at half mast.

The NDC's statement also stated that Alhaji Ussifu Ali's family held a ceremony at 1 pm on Wednesday at his residence in Tesano, before being buried in Kasoa Amahdiya's Muslim cemetery.

The final funeral ritual (Adua) will also take place Thursday in his residence in Tesano.

The opposition party has also recently lamented the death of another former president, Dr. Kwabena Adjei.

Dr. Adjei also died at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital on March 12, 2019.
