NDC MPs demand impeachment of NDA CEO for breach of supply

The parliamentary minority is calling for the immediate resignation or dismissal of the director general of the Northern Development Authority (NDA) due to breaches of public procurement.

NDC deputies accuse Dr Alhassan Sulemana Anamzoya of sharing contracts with members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) without following due process.

Speaking to the media, MP for Tamale South and a member of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee, Alhassan Suhuyini quoted a letter written by NPP Northern Regional Secretary Sule Sambian to the CEO of the Authority, he said. ordering to give a certain number of contracts to certain identified faithful. .

“When the Minister (Hawa Koomson) who was responsible for this area (Special Initiatives) appeared before the Nominating Committee, it turned out that in fact our worst fear was; it is to circumvent the law and violate with impunity the laws on public procurement that we are all supposed to respect to improve governance and reduce if not eliminate corruption, ”added Mr. Alhassan Suhuyini.

He also revealed that the minority in Parliament was in possession of a letter from the CEO of the NDA demanding additional payments of 5% from said entrepreneurs to fund the party’s 2020 campaign.

Again, Mr. Suhuyini said that there were letters from the Authority requesting Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) to provide loans to entrepreneurs who lack the financial capacity to execute the projects.
