Mahama Tongu Former President John Dramani Mahama aspires to carry the NDC flag

Togbi Amenya Fiti V, supreme leader of Aflao, advised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to elect a flag bearer who would be a "leader for all".

"If you do not choose a flag bearer for everyone, even at the base, but you keep it for yourself, NDC candidate or for a particular group or club, you keep it for your own electoral risk. We need an accessible leader, not a candidate for a party or club member, "he said.

Togbe Fiti gave this advice when former President John Dramani Mahama paid him a courtesy visit as part of his NDC flagship (Mahama) campaign tour in the Volta region.

He wished Mr. Mahama good luck and said that he hoped that the delegates' convention would elect the "right-wing flag bearer".

"Your congress is an internal affair and we do not worry about it, but we expect it as a pregnant woman to give birth to a beautiful baby who will become a baby for us all, Aflao and the country," said Togbe Fiti.

Mahama reiterated CND's commitment to the region of Aflao and Volta, saying the party would not take South Ketu and the region for granted.

The former president said the NDC had done much work in the areas of health, education, extension of the electricity grid and road infrastructure in the Volta region and lamented that all current projects in the region remain unfinished under the new patriotic party.

Mahama called on the delegates' unit to bring the CDN back to power to "give hope to frustrated Ghanaians".

He said that no political party could compete with the NDC in terms of infrastructure provision in the country, hence the need to bring it back to give the population what it needed to rapid socio-economic development.

Mahama said 2020 was the right time to regain power and asked delegates to vote for the right candidate who would lead the party to victory, promising to work with everyone once elected.
