Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu said National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Techiman South, Christopher Baasongti, had his seat stolen, which he contested in the recently concluded election.
According to him, the declaration of the headquarters by the Electoral Commission (EC) in favor of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is fraudulent, therefore, the party will not allow him to run.
“Christopher of NDC Won Techiman South Seat allows anyone including the media to demand transparent public compilation and aggregation of Techiman constituency results, polling station by polling station and even certified results. by the NPP and you would know the eventual winner of Techiman South, ”he told JoyNews’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo.
Techiman South has become the center of controversy after confusion erupted when NDC supporters blocked the president from declaring NPP parliamentary candidate Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah the winner.
A verdict that the NDC rejected and intends to overturn.
Tamale South MP, however, called on the EC to openly collect Techiman South’s results satisfactorily in accordance with Ghanaian laws.
He further threatened that until the results of the Techiman South Parliament are put back together, his side of the House will not participate in the groundbreaking exercise on January 7.
Mr. Iddrisu asked the EC to publish the parliamentary results for the constituency of Techiman Sud.
“If the results of Techiman Sud are not resolved amicably and in a satisfactory manner in accordance with the laws of Ghana and in particular Regulation 43 of CI 127 by the EC. We will even make it conditional on the taking of the oath which will take place on January 7, because this gives us the majority in Parliament that we need, ”he declared.
