NDC presidential candidates will have to pay 400 000 GH as filing fee

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has decided that presidential candidates in the next primary school should pay 400 000 GH as filing fee.

However, female candidates will pay 50% less[[[[GH ¢ 200,000] of the filing fee while there is an additional discount for physically disabled applicants[[[[GH ¢150,000].

The party agreed to hold the presidential primary on January 19, 2019.

The application will be open on Monday, December 3rd and Tuesday, December 4th. Candidates who choose the application forms must submit them on December 13th and 14th.

Speaking at a press conference held at the party's headquarters at the end of the CEN meeting, Secretary General, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, explained that each candidate was supposed to convince two people to support the candidacy in each constituency. Graph online Gertrude Ankah Nyavi reports.

This means that a total of 558 signatures are required for each candidate.

There should be three nominators, five supporters and the qualification criteria are consistent with what is recommended by the 1992 constitution for the position of president, except that the aspirant must be a member of the CDN for more than 10 years and to have contributed to the construction of the party.

A 7-member committee will review the candidates and the winner will have to get a 50% plus one vote and the proxy vote will not be interpreted, said Asiedu Nketia.

There will be a total of 276 voting centers across the country and more than 260,000 delegates will be voting.

The Secretary General also called for civility in the campaign, pointing out that the aspirant who will engage in insults will be disqualified by the selection committee.

Meanwhile, the party will hold a Mbad of Thanksgiving at the Pentecost Church in Nungua for a successful congress on December 2, 2018.
