NDC pressuring for electoral reforms – Minority Leader

Tamale, July 08, GNA – The National
The Democratic Congress (NDC) will insist that activities be further reformed

Mr. Iddrisu emphasized that "the right to

He said the NDC's decision to push for
further reforms in the activities and functioning of the EC, was based on
principle that "A credible electoral register is a prerequisite for the conduct of
free, fair and credible elections.

voted for on the basis of inefficiencies of the EC and their poor judgment
in the current exercise for a few days.

Mr. Iddrisu spoke about the data system of
the EC reiterated that "the EC's data system is not in good condition and
therefore, they should consider rebuilding their data center. When you get
largely offline registration that we see and when they promised themselves
online it means that every day they have to enter offline registration into the
national data system ".

"I'm not sure it's done and that

and the NDC is worried about it. "

He also talked about the impending NDC
Parliamentary primaries expressing the need for the party to focus more on the
orphans saying, "That we should declare the battlefield for the

He hoped that a lot of
constituencies would keep their NDC deputies sitting "so we can take
take advantage of their experiences and grow some of them so that Parliament
stronger, more transparent and more accountable as an institution ".
