Some NDC executives with representatives of the Electoral Commission
The National Democratic Congress (NEC) badured the President of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Jean Mensa, that the largest opposition party in Ghana was ready and willing to help it and that the body election management was a success.
"It's just to make sure the NDC, as a party, will continue to play this vital role in improving our electoral processes, to help you succeed, because if the EC succeeds, Ghana succeeds and we all succeed, "Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo told Ms. Mensa and her delegation of the EC directly that they had paid a courtesy call on former President John Mahama on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.
NDC's flag bearer visit for 2020 follows similar visits by former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and John Agyekum Kufuor as part of the EC's processes and strategy to enhance transparency, build confidence and to listen to key players in Ghana's electoral process.
At the meeting, Mr. Mahama told the Commission President and his entourage: "We will want to address some of the issues raised in the last election so that you can review it and see how we can improve the process so that all of us will have the impression that the process is integrity and we are convinced that we are all treated fairly so that the one who wins or loses easily accepts that it is an expression free of the will of the people ".
Mahama also urged Ms Mensa, who headed the Think Tank's Economic Insight Institute (IEA), to give her the "outstanding skills" displayed in her previous office to reflect her work at the Electoral Commission. .
