NDC’s ‘March for Justice’ demo was a flop

The secretary general of the Ashanti regional branch of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sam Pyne, said the Democratic National Congress opposition demonstration “March for Justice” was unsuccessful yesterday.

Hundreds of NDC members and supporters have taken to the streets of Accra to express their displeasure at the unfair treatment and murder of some citizens by the country’s security services.

Their protest mainly concerned the recent events in Ejura in the Ashanti region where three people were killed and other residents were shot and wounded.

The demonstrators held up placards with inscriptions like; ” Akufo-Addo uses our money to bathe in the sky ”, ” Akufo-Addo, you are a dictator ”, ” Ahmed Suale deserved to live ”, ” No justice for the dead, no of peace ” among others.

Some notable people seen during the protest included NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia; Ningo Prampram MP Sam George; The national women’s party organizer, Dr. Louisa Hanna Bissiw; National party chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and a host of other leading NDC members.

Reacting to the NDC protest, Sam Pyne noted that the concerns raised by the protesters are already being addressed by the Akufo-Addo government and that there is nothing new they said that was not said .

He cited their complaints about insecurity in Ghana, which he said do not hold up because the government has well equipped the police with resources to maintain law and order.

He added that many of the things the NDC is demanding of the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, are also a repeat of their campaign message ahead of the 2020 general election.

“All the things that served as the basis for their manifestation are being rearranged. They used these things to campaign and we had an election on December 7, 2020. So people were asking what had changed? They talked about Ejura for example, but the government decided to set up a committee with Judge George Kingsley Koomson and other members of the committee. So if you tell people that you are taking to the streets because of these things, they won’t come, ”he said on Peace FM. ” Kokrokoo ”.
