Cardiovascular disease is very common in the elderly. Nowadays, it is becoming more common because of the unhealthy lifestyle and diets in effect. Therefore, it is important to treat these diseases carefully to avoid further complication. Treatments and medications for these diseases are used to treat these diseases as effectively as possible.
However, a recent study by a team of researchers from the University of Illinois at Chicago showed that the increase in the number of closed pharmacies is proportional to the increase in the number of illnesses heart. This is due to the high number of medications for heart disease consumed day by day to cope with the large number of people suffering from cardiovascular disease.
The study was led by an badociate professor of systems, results and policies of pharmacy at the UIC Faculty of Pharmacy, called Dima Qato. She published her study and the results in the journal JAMA Network Open.
She commented on the results obtained by stating, "While ongoing efforts to improve drug compliance are focused on improving affordability, this study suggests that policies to reduce non-compliance with prescribed medications should also remove systemic barriers beyond the high cost of prescribed medications, such as access to the pharmacy. These results provide strong evidence that pharmacy closures contribute to non-compliance, including among insured seniors. "
According to the research, the problem lies in the fact that some people concentrate all their drugs in a single pharmacy which, once closed, will upset their medical life.
