LOS ANGELES (AP) – Nearly two-thirds of nearly 800 students, faculty and staff quarantined after being exposed to the measles virus at two Los Angeles universities have been allowed to return to normal .
Quarantine was one of the most ambitious efforts by the authorities to contain the measles epidemic in the country, where cases reached their highest level in 25 years.
People from California State University in Los Angeles and from the University of California at Los Angeles were laundered after providing proof of immunity.
On the campus of Cal State, 435 students and employees were cleared Monday afternoon, and 221 people are still in quarantine.
Officials said they may have been exposed to an infected student who had visited a school library.
At UCLA, 27 people were quarantined. People from this campus were taking courses followed by an infected student.
