In an act of generosity, Paul Pogba participated in his pre-season tour. The Australians, it seems, were judged worthy of his presence.
It remains to be seen whether he will feel the same about Singapore next week.
Will he be there again in a fortnight? Will he push further his disagreement with Jesse Lingard? Will he fall with someone else? Will his soap opera dissolve into soft bubbles of irrelevance or will we lose the will to live instead?
Oh, there's also a football club called Manchester United, the least important part of the boring Saga of Pogba.
But at least Pogba has arrived. Neymar did not do it.
He was supposed to return for preparatory training, but he focused instead on his sponsorship commitments. He claimed a communication failure.
All the others pointed out these miraculous gear called mobile phones once they had stopped laughing.
Oh, there is also a football club, Paris Saint-Germain, the least important party in the boring saga of Neymar.
This week, Neymar and Pogba have achieved something truly remarkable. They left us with a feeling of sympathy for both PSG and United.
INCORRIGIBLE DUO
United owners have drained the club of over one billion pounds sterling ($ 1.69 billion Singapore) from interest payments. PSG supporters are engaged in a long-term project of "sportswashing".
And yet, the clubs occupy practically the moral heights, thanks to their relations with the incorrigible duo.
Neymar and Pogba are essentially sitting in a corner of the clbadroom, arms folded, lips flickering and refusing to join them until they can sit where they want.
Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, a caricature of greedy agents, has informed everyone (Juventus and Real Madrid) of the "will" of his client to leave United.
Considering that the current infrastructure of United gives the Titanic the appearance of a solid ship, the calculated comments of Pogba are almost understandable.
Club sources have questioned Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's traditional "British" coach, who happens to be Norwegian. Other sources complained of the intensity of the training. Other sources have suggested that Pogba's antics had angered his teammates and left him alone.
Stories of escape and well-placed sources seem to follow Pogba. Whatever their veracity, these negative reports serve two functions. They disrupt a weakened club and prepare the departure of the Frenchman.
These stories, which appear daily, mainly benefit Pogba, to the detriment of a club he seeks to leave.
When David de Gea wanted to join Real, he showed interest in the club from his childhood, then returned to work by day.
There was no leak. No other comments. No agent was swinging his precious carrot in Turin and Madrid.
But everything is about Pogba now. The pre-season trip, his alleged fight with Lingard in Perth, his desire to take up a new challenge, everything is in Pogba. The name on the back of the shirt has usurped the one in the front.
Solskjaer is played like a Stradivarius.
If Pogba goes away, Solskjaer loses his best player. If Pogba stays, Solskjaer keeps his most controversial and polarizing player.
The way the club has allowed the French joke to wind up so quickly is indicative of his lack of leadership and the urgent need of a football director.
But Pogba at least pretended to be worried, following the same procedure in Australia, just in case his Machiavellian agent failed to get another transfer shot.
Neymar, on the other hand, remains the same maddening figure he was two years ago when he cast his partnership with the greatest of all time in favor of more money and regular ego mbadages.
PSG HAS THE LEVER
He traded Barcelona against Lionel Messi against PSG bling bling, which really looked like a role in a Meryl Streep movie for a role with the Kardashians.
And now, the Brazilian is trampling on until someone says he can return to Barcelona.
But Neymar has cost Parisians 222 million euros (338.5 million dollars) for two incomplete seasons and the French want a return on investment, which means at least Philippe Coutinho in cash (knowing that a direct transaction is open if Barca also buys Antoine Griezmann).
Unlike United, PSG has a leverage effect. Pogba's soft-sweet approach does not work for Neymar, so the Brazilian's essentially went on strike.
Rather than acknowledge his guilt – campaigns for the wounded and disciplinary issues baduring him that he was seldom quite consistent – Neymar preferred to withdraw.
Just like Pogba. These are peas from the same early pod.
Similar talents. Similar tactics. Make a mess. Force the transfer. New Jersey. New smile. Never look back.
And they will not do it. Why should they? They will get what they want.
Let's hope that their transfers will allow them to make the most of their remarkable talents. But at present, they may be more active in the transfer market than in the field.
