Neil Lennon says Scott Brown has done nothing wrong in the old company clash

Scott Brown quickly became the center of attention after Celtic's 2-1 win against the Rangers in the last Old Firm derby last Sunday.

It was an inflamed meeting at Parkhead, made even more intense by the actions of the Celtic skipper during the final minutes of the game.

Just after Celtic scored the last goal, an altercation between Brown and Rangers midfielder Ryan Kent prompted the Gers man to attack the Celtic veteran in the face.

Earlier in the game against the Scottish Premiership, the former Hibs star would also have provoked Alfredo Morelos after the Colombian was sent off to hit him.

In the days following the match, it appeared that Brown had been treated a disciplinary charge of the Scottish Football Association for his role in the worsening of Kent and Morelos.

Celtic boss Neil Lennon, however, does not take him down, and rushed to defend the 33-year-old, saying he did nothing wrong.

S addressing Celtic TV, Lennon said:My players have been exemplary, absolutely exemplary, subject to an immense provocation.

"Scott Brown has nothing to defend himself. I think his treatment on the ground was simply shameful.

"He got a nudge, he was hit in the face, but he takes it, supports it and comes back for more. This is the character of this man.

Lennon was unequivocal in defending his captain despite disciplinary action taken by the SFA.

"You get the usual nonsense and try to put the same eggs in one basket, "added the manager. "We are totally immune from blame for that."
