Netflix is ditching reality TV shows like WhatsApp is ditching private chats, but I totally agree … reality TV of course, not private chats!
Especially when Netflix’s latest reality show, Empire bling, serves us jewelry like the model turned actor, Kevin Kreider.
Empire bling, as its name suggests, it’s the moolah! Equivalent to the reality TV spin-off of Crazy Rich Asians, Empire bling focuses on the life of a group of very wealthy friends in Los Angeles of Asian descent.
And while Anna Shay was easily a queen after my own heart, the person who made my heart beat faster every time he appeared on screen was the show’s “ new kid ”, Kevin Kreider.
Kevin is nowhere near in the league of the super wealthy cast members he was paired with, but that smile could easily give everyone a chance for their money!
In fact, it obviously wasn’t his bank balance (or even those intense looks), but rather his honest talk about dealing with his masculinity as an Asian, that got him on the show.
Although I bet those barely visible smiles are useful!
Kevin was born in Seoul, Korea, but was adopted as a child and raised by his non-Asian adoptive parents in Pennsylvania, United States.
Two years ago, working with The Huffington Post, he opened up about his experience dating as an Asian and the discrimination he suffered in a video.
This video prompted Kelly Mi Li, one of the show’s stars, to meet him and invite him to be a part of the show. And very soon, Kevin had his cake and was eating it too!
I mean, her dating technique might need some fine tuning, but hey, I’m ready to practice. And I am not the only one.
Except Empire bling, Kevin, who started modeling in 2008, has also appeared in various commercials, five independent films and In Our Dreams!
I mean, it definitely helps me survive the interminable locking blues.
Bling Empire? More like Kevin Kingdom!
To paraphrase the great Gina Linetti, the English language is not equipped to express my feelings for Kevin Kreider. * heart emojis *
