The Netherlands Embassy has introduced new travel restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and its new variant.
The restrictions include flight bans for countries where there is “a very high prevalence of COVID-19 or a risk of new variants” according to an embassy statement.
Although no flight ban has been imposed in Ghana, travelers from the country to the Netherlands will need to undergo an additional rapid antigen test before departure.
“This requirement is in addition to the already mandatory PCR test, carried out 72 hours or less before departure. Diplomatic passport holders, heads of state and cabinet ministers and minors under 13 are exempt from the rapid test requirement, ”the statement added.
The embassy also said the number of exempt categories of eligible travelers to the Netherlands would be further reduced.
“It will no longer be possible for business travelers, students and essential cultural professionals / artists to request travel documents.”
These new travel restrictions will take effect at midnight on January 23, 2021.
