Beginning, Monza, 2018

Monza's place on the F1 2020 calendar should be confirmed as the race's promoters have agreed on a new low-price contract.

The Grand Prix of Italy, which has been part of the world championship since its debut in 1950, is expected to sign a new agreement allowing it to stay on the calendar for five years and bring it to 2024.

The organizers of the race were looking for a "haircut" of their fees from the management of Formula One. As RaceFans has already pointed out, this year's race, the last of its current contract, will cost $ 24 million.

A senior source of the Italian Grand Prix told RaceFabs that the promoters had obtained a reduction in racing costs up to $ 17 million.

Monza will host this year's Grand Prix of Italy's 70th World Championships, only one of which has taken place on the circuit north of Milan. The only exception was the event of 1980, held in Imola.

The news means that Monza will continue to host the world championship at the centenary celebration in 2022.

Four other F1 2019 calendar races – the Spanish, British, German and Mexican Grand Prix – do not have a contract to hold races next year.
