Design of the proposed new 450-seat parliamentary chamber
Pollster and editor of the Daily Dispatch Newspaper, Ben Ephson, described President Nana Akufo-Addo as a wise and intelligent person in the face of how the president has managed the suspended Parliament Hall.
"Akufo-Addo was very wise and smart with the proposed construction of the new room. He won the 2016 elections with a margin of about 980,000. He could have claimed that he will be popular with the new chamber, but he did not do it, "he said.
To Mr. Ephson, he wondered why members of Parliament wanted to spend $ 200 million for a new chamber while the colonial master of Ghana, the British, on whose system democracy and governance of Ghana are modeled, has its parliamentarians sitting on benches.
Speaking on the Accra-based FM clbad and monitored by Adomonline.com, Mr. Ephson said that even though the project had been abandoned for the time being, the reasons given were not concrete enough.
"Any president or parliament that wants to dare the Ghanaians must agree on the new room and let see what happens," he ventured.
