Siddiqi, in collaboration with a team of renowned imaging experts, has developed the revolutionary tool that captures the details of the neural network. The team uses fMRI data, an imaging form that examines changes in blood flow, to create 3D maps of an individual's brain circuitry to identify exact treatment targets. .

TMS is an innovative treatment for treating the symptoms of brain disorders such as depression, anxiety and impulsivity. The non-invasive technique works by sending light pulses of current into damaged areas of the brain to strengthen neuronal connections and help the brain adapt to change.
Traditionally, TMS relied on generalized knowledge of brain architecture to stimulate areas of a brain region related to depression. The new brain network mapping tool, meanwhile, targets multiple treatment sites up to the exact coordinates in the brain of a specific individual.
