BBC Radio 5 Live has obtained four of the seven live Premier League commentary contracts for the next three years, while talkSPORT supports the other three.

talkSPORT and talkSPORT2 have the right to broadcast Premier League games on three slots, Saturday 12:30, 15:00 and 17:30, a first for commercial radio.

However, 5 Live will have the first choice of matches on Saturday 15h.

Barbara Slater, director of BBC Sport, said: "This is great news for the BBC, in an increasingly competitive radio market. Live radio coverage of the Premier League is a key element of the BBC's audience reach for football fans. The quality of our production, commentary, badysis and presentation is unmatched and we are extremely proud of it. "

Scott Taunton, CEO of Wireless, told RadioToday: "talkSPORT is now the match day destination for live action in the Premier League. We have consolidated our position as the only national commercial radio partner in the Premier League, winning more games and a new key spot on Saturday noon, which means we are the only radio network to offer coverage in live from Saturday to the final whistle.

"TalkSPORT and talkSPORT2 provide the best live commentary and coverage for millions of football fans in the UK. Our extremely talented teams now have an unparalleled opportunity to offer Premier League football to more listeners than ever before. "

The talkSPORT network continues its exclusive partnership with the Premier League for global rights until 2022 to provide listeners around the world, outside the UK and the Republic of Ireland, with official audio coverage in live and at the request of the 380 matches of the Premier League. The network is also the exclusive focus of the EFL – including the play-off finals – as well as property rights on the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the UK.
