KNOXVILLE, Tennessee (WVLT) – If you visit a hospital in Eastern Tennessee, you will see many newborns wearing red hats handmade.

Hats are part of a program called "Little Hats, Big Hearts" to educate the public about heart disease and conbad heart defects.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death among Americans, and conbad heart disease is the most common type of conbad malformation in the country.

The program is sponsored locally by Phillips & Jordan.

"Together with the American Heart Association, we are committed to raising awareness about cardiovascular disease and creating a healthier Knoxville through initiatives like this one. We are grateful to volunteers who have spent countless hours knitting hundreds of hats to honor mothers, babies and heart health so special, "said William T." Teddy ", Jr.

It's the fourth year of the Little Hats, Big Hearts program in Knoxville.
