NORMAL, Ill. (HOI) – Babies at Advocate Children's Hospital and newborns in Advocate's health network will wear red hats in February to raise awareness about heart disease and celebrate Heart Month.

The Little Hats Initiative, Big Hearts is taking place in hundreds of hospitals spread across 40 states.

"We are pleased to be collaborating again with the American Heart Association on this campaign at Heart Month and Conbad Heart Disease Awareness Month," said Dr. S. Javed Zaidi, Pediatric Cardiologist at the Medical Center. Advocate BroMenn. "Conbad heart defects, the most common type of conbad malformation, are more common than you might think: in the United States, one in every 100 babies is born each year with a heart defect.

This is the sixth year that Advocate is participating in the program. The hats are unique and handcrafted by volunteers.
