Newmont Goldcorp Ghana mourns the tragic loss of a security contractor allegedly missing after a clash with illegal artisbad miners on the Ahafo mine property on Thursday, July 25.

Following a large search operation, the victim's body was found in the Ahafo mine mining area and recovered late Friday, July 26th.

The company had worked closely with the police and other stakeholders to locate the missing security provider. Four other security agents were injured during the Thursday confrontation and were treated.

"Newmont Goldcorp Ghana and our neighboring communities are in mourning following this tragic loss of life," said Kwame Addo-Kufuor, Newmont Goldcorp's Acting Senior Vice President, Africa Operations.

"We support our security provider in their efforts to help the injured as well as the family of the deceased."

We help the police conduct thorough investigations to understand the circumstances that led to the disappearance and death.

Operations are continuing normally.

We will continue to work with other stakeholders to ensure the safety of those working in our operations.
