Harry Maguire is ready to present Manchester United with his long-term interest in the defender, paving the way for the conclusion of an agreement.
The English defender refused United last summer following the Three Lions race in the World Cup semi-final.
The Old Trafford bosses were prepared to sanction a huge move for the former defender of Hull City after impressing in Russia, but Maguire was reluctant to leave Leicester so soon after joining him.
But now, he is ready to accept United's return with a new offer – and Acting Director Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has urged his bosses to pay for Maguire so the club can defend itself around the 26-year-old, the Daily Star reports.
Solskjaer's eagerness is the surest sign for the moment that United's chief executive, Ed Woodward, will give Norwegian the position of director permanently this summer.
Currently, the manager is expected to withdraw when his interim contract expires at the end of the season, but after a spectacular succession, it seems likely that the club will yield to the will of supporters and installs Solskaer full time.
It is believed that Maguire is ready to play in a club capable of winning trophies. Any deal could spell the end of Eric Bailly's and Marcos Rojo's careers at United.
The English defender signed a new contract with the Foxes until 2023 only last season, placing the club in a favorable position for the negotiation of any transfer fees.
Maguire will probably be able to pay double the salary he's earned at King Power Stadium, making him pay something closer to £ 140,000 a week.
