This is the opinion of former blues star Paul Canoville.
Hudson-Odoi is sought after by the Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich this month.
The 18-year-old is weighing money to decide whether to move to Germany or stay in Chelsea.
Hudson-Odoi has participated more regularly in the Blues this season in recent weeks and made a total of nine appearances in all competitions.
And Canoville insists that Chelsea must keep the English starlet.
Talk to talkSPORT "Hudson-Odoi is a player Chelsea needs.
"We need this player. I saw the guy playing under Jody Morris [Chelsea’s former Under-18 head coach] and he has talent.
"He's scary and when he arrives, he can do things.
"They [Chelsea] know the talent of the player to offer him [a new contract].
"His agent will fix that for him.
"He does not really want to go, he wants to play. He wants to start the game and play.
"When Bayern Munich offers games, he will always think of it."
It is believed that Chelsea would have offered Hudson-Odoi a new £ 70,000 weekly contract to keep him at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues would also be on the verge of concluding a contract with Gonzalo Higuain.
Chelsea will be back in action in the Premier League tomorrow at Arsenal (5:30 pm).
A victory for the Sarri team would earn nine points on the Gunners.
