News Man Utd: Louis van Gaal hurts Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Barcelona defeat

Louis van Gaal is interested in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tactics after Manchester United defeated Barcelona in the Champions League by claiming that the Norwegian has "parked the bus" in several crucial matches.

United has pulled out of the European elite competition earlier this week after a 3-0 loss to Barca at Camp Nou on Tuesday night.

United are now facing a fight to rank in the top four in the Premier League and Van Gaal admits that Solskjaer's tactic was too negative to win trophies.

"I can see how Ole made an impact at first, because United was ninth in the table when he took over and the team was nothing," Van Gaal told Ziggo.

"United had played against football, as I call it, but do not think that Ole is not afraid to park the bus either, it's more defensive than you think.

"I'm watching the team, because I'm still watching United, and Ole has parked the bus against Arsenal. He did it against Tottenham in the league. And at the stages against Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in the Champions League.

"He's playing against all the big teams like that. The focus is more on defense than on attack or desire to play dominant football. In fact, I call it park the bus. Ole does not do it just outside the penalty area. He parks the bus right in front [goalkeeper] David De Gea.

"When United plays this way, he plays 4-4-2 and plays football in a counterattack with Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku.

"They bet on the speed of these two players because they are faster than their opponents when they have room.The pace of Rashford is incredible.You do not catch him when he goes away .

"But if Man United wants to become a dominant force again in Europe and England, he has to adopt a different style of play.

"The problem as a foreign leader is that you discover that the culture of English football is different from that of Germany and Spain.

"In these countries, you work on things in formation. In England, everything is done by playing matches. They become more fit or gain endurance by playing a lot of matches.
