The former boss of Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, revealed that he had failed during the candidacy of Dortmund star Jadon Sancho in Manchester City.
The teenager has lit up the Bundesliga since she had made the shocked decision to leave City for Germany in 2017 after looking forward to an opportunity under Pep Guardiola.
Sancho was back in his hometown of London on Wednesday when his Dortmund team faced Tottenham in the last 16 of the Champions League.
And Wenger revealed that he had tried to sign Sancho when it had become apparent that he wanted to leave City.
"It's an incredible story because the pressure on these young boys from an early age is very strong," Wenger told BeIN Sports.
"The second thing is the pressure exerted by all the clubs.I say it freely because I wanted to take it from City when it had not had the matches.
"I tried to lure him – because he's from London," I tried to take him to Arsenal.
"I must say that they have a lot of money before playing games, it does not improve their hunger. For these boys, it's a test because they are rich before playing. "
