Representatives from Inter Milan and Manchester United will meet today to try to reach an agreement on Romelu Lukaku. The Italian side hopes to be able to sign the attacker a loan for two years.
Negotiations have been going on for weeks. Lukaku has made it clear that he wants to trade Manchester against Milan, but the Serie A club does not match United's £ 80 million valuation.
The Belgian would be less and less satisfied with the life at Old Trafford and wanted to retire, after his coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, had declared that Marcus Rashford would be the club's first-choice striker.
Inter will test United's determination with a complex two-year loan offer worth € 70 million, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano said.
Romano said that Inter's initial offer included loan costs of € 10 million, € 30 million in June 2020 and € 30 million in June 2021, with purchase obligations.
It remains to be seen if United will accept the offer because it was hoped to get as much money as possible from the start.
This loan offer will only see the Red Devils pocket around £ 9m this summer, which will not be very useful as they are looking for a replacement in advance.

Inter sports director Piero Ausilio traveled to London to meet the United bosses and try to conclude the deal.
Lukaku is currently with the rest of the Manchester United team in Australia for the pre-season tour of the club that will see them face Perth Glory Saturday and Leeds United Wednesday.
The Red Devils will then meet Inter Milan on Saturday, July 20 in Singapore and the Belgian hopes his allegiances will have changed by then.
