Blood tests for placental growth factor for pre-eclampsia need to be more widely available for pregnant women in England after a trial has shown that the test can speed up accurate diagnosis.
Preeclampsia is suspected in about 10% of pregnancies in the UK and affects about 80,000 women each year. The placental growth factor test indicates whether a woman is at high, medium or low risk.
