According to NIA General Affairs Director Francis Palmdeti, this figure was higher than the target of 78,000 people set at the close of the registration exercise in the region on Wednesday.
"By the end of work on Wednesday, we had 124,162 people registered in Adentan. From the data we have received, we have just seen that we have exceeded our target. We were looking at the 2010 Census numbers with advantages or disadvantages, so we felt that given the size of Adentan and the presence of many workers in this region, we could not achieve our goal. We are at 78,000, but what we have now is well above our target, "he added in an interview with Thursday's Citi Breakfast Show. The figure shows a sharp increase in the 2010 population census that had set the population of Adentan at 78,215 people.
Palmdeti explained that the cause of the resurgence of Adentan's population may be due to the rapid development of areas in the municipality.
"We found that in Adentan new areas were developing very quickly. Kooseh, for example, is a region in full development; Nmai Dzorn is also one of the fast-developing countries, "he added.
The registration and instant issuance of national identity cards began in Adentan on November 5, 2018, despite technical challenges and problems with digital address codes, a prerequisite for registration .
The exercise is expected to continue in the municipality of La Nkwantanang / Madina from December 3 to 22, 2018.
The NIA General Manager said that a center would continue to operate in Adentan to issue unclaimed cards and register new entrants who could not register within three weeks.
