Nicky Butt, head coach of the Manchester United Youth Academy, has been released on bail pending new information.
Nicky Butt, a former Manchester United footballer, was arrested for badaulting a woman.
Officers were called to a Broadway house in Hale at around 2:00 pm Paris time.
A woman was given a small cut in her hand and did not need hospital care, the Greater Manchester police said.
The 44-year-old head coach of the Manchester United Youth Academy, he was released on bail pending new information.
The BBC has approached Manchester United for a comment.
Butt won a series of Premier League titles during his career at Old Trafford and also participated in the club's spectacular 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the 1999 UEFA Champions League final.
