Nicole Kidman reveals the stress she endured while filming Nine Perfect Strangers amid pandemic

She has been given the green light to film her $ 100 million series Nine Perfect Strangers in Australia amid the pandemic, bringing hundreds of jobs to the local industry.

And in an interview with The Sun-Herald and The Sunday Age over the weekend, Nicole Kidman, who not only starred but was an executive producer, revealed the “enormous stress” they felt to ensure the safety and health of the actors and the team on the set.

The 54-year-old said that in hindsight they “probably didn’t realize” what they were doing and, in a way, “played Russian roulette” with financiers involved.

“There is a lot of stress which is responsible for the safety and health of people. We took this very seriously, ”Nicole told the store.

Strict COVID-19 protocols have been applied, with testing, the wearing of masks, and “reprogramming” or “stopping” production if a test is negative.

“We couldn’t endanger anyone. And we got away without a single case, which is extraordinary, ”revealed Nicole.

Looking back, the Oscar-winning actress admitted that she probably didn’t realize the intricacies of shooting a multi-million dollar movie in the midst of the pandemic.

Based on the 2018 novel by Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty, Nine Perfect Strangers became the first major A-list production to be shot in Australia amid the pandemic.

The limited series is produced by Nicole’s production company, Blossom Films, alongside collaborators Bruna Papandrea and David E. Kelley.

Alongside Nicole, the series features a top Hollywood cast including Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, and Manny Jacinto.

The series tells the story of nine stressed city dwellers who escape to a wellness retreat led by Nicole’s character, Masha Dmitrichenko.

Filming took place from August to December, primarily in Byron Bay, NSW.

In August last year, the Daily Telegraph reported on restrictions on production, which took place in an “isolated production center”.

Members of the cast and crew from overseas or within a state were required to self-quarantine in a hotel for 14 days upon arrival in NSW.

Nicole and her fellow producers were responsible for paying all medical and safety costs, the Daily Telegraph reported.

The actress, whose career spans nearly four decades, told the publication that she was “thrilled” to be able to create hundreds of jobs in the local industry.

Nine Perfect Strangers will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 20.
